After-Workout Smoothies Improve Workout Results

After-Workout Smoothies Improve Workout Results

We’ve all walked by the smoothie bar at the club at some point, and thought, “Yeah, one of these days, I’m going to stop and get one of those as a treat!” But did you know that a smoothie isn’t just a luxury? By giving your body some of these helpful nutrients, you'd be surprised at how many benefits there are.

Consider some of the ingredients that are up on that menu board—some of these are simply fantastic!

Echinacea

Let’s talk about Echinacea first because many people don’t understand how valuable this really is for their bodies. If you have heard of this before, it’s probably been in relation to either preventing or shortening a cold. However, Echinacea has been used to treat everything from average body pain to urinary tract infections to acid indigestion. Even those individuals who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome can benefit from taking in more Echinacea, so the variety of benefits you can receive is a long list. If you add this into your smoothie, it’s guaranteed to give your body a boost for the day, as well as support your immune system to keep you from getting sick.

Ginseng

Ginseng is an ingredient that you see in everything from supplements to tea, but you might not understand some of the specific reasons why it’s good to take. Again, this is an item that supports your immune system, but it’s also great for your mental clarity and focus. People who take ginseng regularly have reported lower levels of blood sugar, so if that’s a problem for you, this is an ingredient that will help. Many people use this as a way to treat fatigue and even a bad mood in some cases. You’ll find that your endurance improves, so you’re able to workout for a longer period of time. All of this from adding in a simple ingredient to a delicious, refreshing smoothie!

Calcium

Calcium is well known for making strong bones, and this is especially important when you’re working out. Your body needs the support in order to lift those weights and work your favorite cardio class and this will help you stay on your feet. Make sure you give your bones the strength they need by adding in this particular ingredient and you should be more confident about the activities and sports you participate in. Just make sure you also balance this out by taking the right amount of magnesium, as this is just as important for your body.

Gingko Biloba

This is the final ingredient I want to talk about today, but it’s a very important one. There’s a joke that people buy gingko biloba to help with their memory but then they forget to take it! Because it benefits the flow of blood to your brain, this is excellent for helping prevent many common mental conditions, such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. If someone finds it painful to walk, they should ask their doctor if this will help get rid of some pain, so you can walk further than before. Individuals suffering from glaucoma might also see some relief as gingko biloba has improved vision in some of these cases. I bet you didn’t know that adding a supplement like this to your shake could make it so much more beneficial for your entire body!

So next time you walk by that smoothie bar, don’t put it off as a treat for later. Stop by, order your favorite flavor and see how delicious nutritious ingredients can really be!
