Nuts--A Healthy Fat to Enjoy

Nuts--A Healthy Fat to Enjoy

Most of us are usually looking for a healthy snack when the afternoon comes and it we’re not careful, we’ll grab a handful of sugary foods because they are quick and easy. One of the most confusing snack foods are nuts because some people believe they are straight up fat and others see them as a healthy alternative. Well……the good news is that nuts are good for you! Everything in moderation of course, and you do want to choose the nuts that are lower in sodium. Overall though, this is a healthy fat food that you can grab a handful of and not feel bad about it. In fact, some nuts have some very specific health benefits that will make you stand up and pay attention. One of these is that nuts are a very satisfying snack and that means you won’t overeat—allowing you to stay at whatever healthy weight you prefer. Do you want some great examples? Peanuts, almonds, cashews, and even Brazil nuts are all excellent tools for reducing your risk of heart disease. Pistachios give you some protection against lung cancer. Walnuts are excellent for lowering the bad cholesterol in your body. Men….Brazil nuts help reduce your chances of acquiring prostate cancer. Also, pistachios help reduce the symptoms of ED as well, so talk to your doctor about including this in your diet. Walnuts and peanuts are great for improved brain health and performance. Did you ever notice how a walnut kind of looks like a brain? Kind of a natural association right there…. Clearly, there are many reasons why eating nuts is healthy and nutritious and they have a lot of fiber as well. That means your body takes longer to digest them and you won’t be reaching for another snack for a while. Next time you go shopping for snacks, grab a healthy can and it will boost the results you get from your workout because you’re not eating a sugary, fatty food. Enjoy!
