Fruits: A Necessary Part of the Food Pyramid

Fruits: A Necessary Part of the Food Pyramid

Sure, you could have had a V8, but nothing replaces actually eating a piece of fruits. Unfortunately, when you juice fruits in a food processor or squeeze them by hand, you’re leaving most of the nutrition benefits behind. There is plenty of nutrients inside the pulp, peel and other parts of the fruit that you end up eating. When these are juiced, these portions of the fruit are normally tossed aside and they have things like calcium, vitamins, fiber and antioxidants that are all great for your body. There are some juicers that use the entire piece of fruit and that is a better choice if you must drink it, however, the best choice is always to eat it. Not only are you giving your body the chewing it craves, so you feel like you’re having a meal, but you’re getting every single nutrient that piece of fruit has to offer. It doesn’t require a lot of packing to take a piece of fruit to your job, doctor’s appointment or just about anywhere you want to go. It’s a quick boost of energy that is great for kids and adults alike. Bananas, oranges, apples, grapes, strawberries and more all pack up easily and they can be added to any meal. Don’t grab a candy bar or something else you’ll regret later—fruit is inexpensive and you can get the best at local fruit stands in your community. This will again improve the results you get from your workout and give you more energy at the same time!
